How to choose an indoor cycling bike

Three things set our bikes apart: the drive (chain or belt), how heavy the rider is, and whether the bike is for home or for a studio that runs classes every day.

For home riders

The Best Fitness BFSB5B is our value pick. A real chain drive and an 18 kg flywheel give it the feel of a road bike, it has no electronics to go wrong, and transport wheels let you roll it away after a ride. It suits riders up to 125 kg.

For heavier riders and light commercial use

The Endurance ESB150 keeps the 18 kg flywheel but swaps to a quiet v-grooved belt drive, felt-pad braking and sealed bearings. It takes riders up to 140 kg and carries a lifetime in-home frame warranty (15 years in light commercial use), so it suits PT studios and physio clinics as well as home gyms.

For studios and serious cyclists

The Endurance ESB250 PRO is built for heavy use: a 20 kg flywheel, an oversized 2″ × 5″ steel frame, a top-down leather-pad brake, road-style dual-sided pedals and a one-touch safety stop.

Indoor cycling bike FAQs

Is an indoor cycling bike the same as a spin bike?

Yes. "Spin bike" is the common name for an indoor cycling bike: a heavy flywheel, a road-bike riding position and a resistance knob, built for seated climbs, standing climbs and sprints. An upright exercise bike is usually lighter, with a screen and preset programs instead.

Chain drive or belt drive: which is better?

A chain feels most like a road bike, but it makes a little more noise and needs the odd drop of lubricant. A belt is quieter and close to maintenance-free, which is why studios prefer it. The BFSB5B is chain drive; the ESB150 and ESB250 PRO are belt drive.

Does flywheel weight matter?

Yes. A heavier flywheel carries more momentum, so the pedal stroke feels smoother, especially at low resistance and when you stand up. Our bikes use an 18 kg or 20 kg flywheel.

Is an indoor cycling bike worth it?

If you'll ride two or three times a week, yes. It's low-impact cardio you can do in any weather, in 20 to 30 minutes, without travelling to a class. Choose a bike with a heavy flywheel and plenty of adjustment so it stays comfortable as you ride more.

Is delivery included?

Yes. Every bike ships free Australia-wide by freight from our Adelaide warehouse, in one box. Freight is usually left at your door, so plan for help to carry it inside.
