How to choose a weight rack

Start with what you need to store: weight plates, dumbbells, barbells, or a mix. Then check the space you have and how heavy your collection is.

For weight plates

A plate tree keeps plates upright on a small footprint and holds two barbells. The Best Fitness BFWT10B suits a home gym with up to 180 kg of Olympic plates. The Body-Solid GWT56 takes up to 450 kg of Olympic (2″) plates and is built for commercial gyms. The Body-Solid GSWT is the same idea for Standard (1″) plates.

For dumbbells

The Powerline PDR282X holds 6 pairs on two tiers. The Body-Solid GDR363B holds 10 pairs from 2 to 22.5 kg, the same range as our 235 kg dumbbell set. The Body-Solid GDR44 stands upright and holds 6 pairs of lighter dumbbells (up to 15 kg each) on a smaller footprint.

For plates and dumbbells together

The Rugged Series Y420 stores plates on its base and dumbbells on two height-adjustable shelves, in one heavy-duty frame with a lifetime warranty.

For barbells on a Rugged rack

The Rugged Y254 (base mount) and Y255 (upright mount) bar holders store an Olympic bar upright on your Rugged rack. The Y255 also fits the Y420.

Weight rack FAQs

Do weight racks come with weights?

No. All our racks are sold empty. See our dumbbells and weight plates.

Olympic or Standard plate tree?

Match the tree to your plates. Olympic plates have a 2″ (50 mm) hole and Standard plates a 1″ (25 mm) hole. Our rubber-grip plates are Olympic.

What is the best way to store weights at home?

Off the floor, on a rack that matches what you own: a plate tree for plates, a dumbbell rack for dumbbells, or the Rugged Y420 if you have both. Put the rack on a flat, level floor, near where you train, and keep the heaviest weights on the lowest pegs or tier.
