    In Stock

The Body-Solid OB86B is a 7 ft (2.18 m) Olympic barbell in a matte black oxide finish β€” a 20 kg bar rated to 272 kg for serious lifting.

Precision-engineered from high-quality components and built to take you to super-heavy workloads β€” a 20 kg, 2.18 m Olympic bar rated to 272 kg.

    See all our barbells.

If you prefer a blacked-out, modern look, the OB86B is the same bar with a matte black oxide finish that resists rust, chipping and peeling. Identical specs and 272 kg capacity to the chrome OB86; just a different finish. Pair it with rubber-grip Olympic plates or the 112.5 kg plate set.

Designed to take you to super-heavy workloads and precision-engineered from the highest-quality components. The black oxide finish protects against rusting, chipping, scarring and peeling, and gives the bar a clean, matte-black look. A 30 mm grip and 131 cm loadable length between the collars suit all the main barbell lifts, with 40 cm sleeves for any Olympic plates.

What's the difference between the chrome and black bars?
Only the finish. The OB86 (chrome) has a bright triple-plated chrome coating; the OB86B (black) has a matte black oxide coating. Length, grip, sleeves, weight and 272 kg capacity are identical β€” choose the look you prefer.

Any Olympic (2β€³) plates load onto the 40 cm sleeves. Plates are sold separately.

How heavy is the bar and how much can it hold?
The bar weighs 20 kg and is rated to a 272 kg weight capacity.

Will it fit my rack and Olympic plates?
Yes β€” it's a standard 2.18 m Olympic bar with 30 mm grip and 50 mm sleeves, so it fits standard Olympic racks and plates.

    2 months on.....

I wrote a review here in June when I received the bar, I cant fault the service at all it was super quick given the current situation. Unfortunately 2 months into using the bar its rusting significantly despite being in an enclosed garage, the black paint has faded and a lot of flash corrosion right through the bar. Granted this is a $200 bar but I was hoping for a little more life out of it, given this is the state of it after 2 months im not confident in its longevity.

Hi Chris, after only 2 months and having kept the bar enclosed in your garage, it is indeed very likely this is a defective bar. We've sold a few hundreds of these bars over the last few months and there is a chance that 2 or 3 would come out defective. As you said, the price does not justify any quality issues, we must always deliver quality products at affordable prices. So please, send pictures of your bar to info@bestfitness.com.au so our technicians can confirm the defect and we will send you a new bar free of charge. Thanks!

    Great value but inconsistent

Barbell looks mean, its matte black finish is perfect. It feels good in-hand and is clearly great quality for the price and a must have for any home gym beginners. The postage from SA to VIC was literally overnight and securely packed.
However, whilst cleaning the anti-corrosion coating off the barbell I had noticed that the left knurling on the barbell was as expected - decent but not exactly 'grippy'. I checked the right hand side of the barbell almost has no knurling whatsoever, grip is important and I am hoping that some chalk can make up for the lack of knurling on the right hand side of the bar but am slighly disappointed that I will need to make do with an uneven barbell or find a way to knurl this myself (and probably damage the powder coating in the process).

Hi Renato, thanks for sending over the pictures. Our technician confirmed your bar is defective, so we will send you a new bar.
